Hey Drew‍, we’re back and stronger than ever for the January 2021 season! If you haven’t done so yet, please register your team for the upcoming season here.

Please continue to promote to your players our Healthy Back to Hockey guidelines here.

Teams in Division 5 can expect changes for the upcoming Winter / January 2021 Season. All current D5C team captains will be contacted directly and involved in these changes (be it adjusting to a D5B level or working with CAHL for individual player skills etc)…

We will be enforcing Division 5 C to be exclusively for beginner-level and new skaters only. CAHL will be granting referees discretion to enforce this based on observations. Anyone playing in D5C with observable skills that stand out from the rest of the players will be asked to immediately leave and likely banned from D5C if such a strong infraction is observed. The actual wording, actions, rules, types of skills / behaviors and/or actions that might trigger a player being asked to play in a more advanced division are in the works by Tommy, referees and team captains.

This was written by Drew as a general heads-up and not in any way to be considered a written change at this time. We have a lot of new players joining us every season and those of us who really are in the beginners-level where any player that comes “down” to play can skate circles or score hat tricks often. It will be hard to say what exactly qualifies as a D5B level behavior but players must understand that more often than we wish to admit, there’s a player or two that can ruin the fun of the game if they don’t “back down” on their skills when playing for a D5C team?

Put yourself in a new player’s skates today, it’s scary enough to try this awesome sport the first time, let’s work together to bring those new players into the leagues and want to keep playing this awesome sport and those who are upset at me writing this, go do your thing at open hockey if you need to. This isn’t pro hockey and we’re all here to primarily HAVE FUN!

-Drew

New Guidelines

We will be opening up the leagues starting on May 26th. There will be some safety precautions that come with us opening. First thing, all players will take a forehead temperature when entering the building to ensure there is no fever of any kind. Secondly, all players and spectators must sign a sheet when entering the building so we know who is in the establishment at all times. Additionally, all players will have to wear a face mask when in the locker room; however, it is optional when you are on the ice underneath your helmets.

Locker rooms will seat nine players max. Additional players will dress in the party rooms at Northland. At Sports Plus floors will be marked and benches will be put down in showers to ensure distance while changing.

NO SHOWERS OR BATHROOMS will be open in locker rooms.

Playoffs

Playoffs will open up on June 3. Playoffs will be played over a one (1) week period. Most games, will be played on the weekend.

It will be like going away to play in a tournament. You will need to pay attention to your games day and time. Due to a busy Saturday and Sunday game schedule all games will have 17:00 minute periods and one 3 minute overtime period of 3 on 3 going to a 3 person shootout in all tied games.

Summer 2020 Season

The new season will start the week of June 12 and we will need all teams interested in playing to sign up as quick as possible. Scheduling this season will be challenging to say the least but we should be able to get a full session in. Please sign up on the website here.

I would like to thank everyone for your understanding and patience with this season.

GOOD LUCK IN THE PLAYOFFS!

TOMMY
